Teachers and Students - All levels welcome!
In this training, we will experience and study the foundational pillars of Yin Somatics. You will learn specific techniques for working with the somatic nervous system and how to practice the primary movements of this system. We will draw on insights from a variety of body-based somatic therapies, illuminating readings, inspiring anatomical teachings, subtle body traditions, modern neuroscience, and Buddhist contemplative practice.
During Yin Somatics, we practice soft, “yin-like” movements entirely on the floor designed to soothe and regulate the nervous system, unwind strain and fatigue, build deep vitality, and support abiding presence. These movements lubricate the joints, increase the circulation of Qi and Prana, and nourish and hydrate the tissues.
This approach is a synthesis of many embodiment practices and somatic healing traditions. In Yin Somatics, we combine healing somatic movement with restorative and yin yoga, helping us and our students slow down, truly relax, and release long-held tension and pain. Through these practices, we aim to increase mobility in the myofascia and the body-mind’s capacity for self-regulation by retraining neuromuscular pathways. Yin Somatics is also a somatic mindfulness practice. By joining intentional and intuitive movement and breath, and by practicing surrender, we feel and experience the body-mind with ever-widening sensitivity. This, in turn, creates more freedom, ease, and a deep sense of safety in the body-mind.
Whether new to somatic movement or an experienced practitioner, join us to deepen your practice and study. This course is for people interested in healing, developing a personal somatic practice, or offering this work within teaching contexts.
